President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Thursday acknowledged Cuban science’s commitment and example in the fight against and treatment of Covid-19.

Hundreds of research works, publications and biopharmaceutical products are among the main contributions from Cuban scientists to the fight against the pandemic, the president tweeted.

He also highlighted the work in the development of medical equipment, robust protocols, innovation, sovereignty, commitment and example.

An article published by local media on Wednesday contains a selection of the main contributions from Cuban science to the fight against Covid-19, including more than 80 research projects on SARS-CoV-2, completed or in progress, and four vaccine candidates in clinical trials.

Likewise, the use of the Cuban drug Interferon ALFA-2B in treatment protocols and the use of mathematical models designed by professors from the University of Havana to predict the trends of the disease stand out.
