The Sorrels of Granma completed the sweep over Artemisa on Wednesday, with scores of (7-1), and finished in second place in the qualifying stage of the 60th National Baseball Series (SNB).
The Granma team finished with 48 wins and 27 defeats, tied with Los Gallos of Sancti Spíritus, but below them by losing (1-4) the particular commitment of the season.
Right-hander Erulis Blanco Reyes played six innings, allowed a forced run and three hits, gave one struck out, to secure his fifth win in the championship, with a defeat.
Right-hander Kelbis Rodríguez León –become into the shortstop of the Granma bullpen this season– was credited with the tenth point per game saved.
Rodríguez León played three innings of a hit, two double and a walk.
On the opposite side, Andy Luis Pérez Ortiz tokk the loss at the 26 de Julio stadium after throwing a full inning and allowing six runs, as well as half a dozen hits and two walks.
The Granma players batted 10 hits and missed the field twice; the Artemisa´s team only made four hits four and played immaculately.
The day before, Granma won twice 5-1 and 6-5, respectively.
Leandro Martínez Figueredo (6-7) won early in the morning and reliever Luis Miguel González Salcedo (1-2) in the closing duel, with a save for Rodríguez León.
Leandro pitched five innings, allowed one run, five hits and struck out one.
The Sorrels put together a comeback in the seventh inning and supported by three hits and the same number of errors from the rival defense scored four runs to turn the scoreboard.
Today, Los Alazanes came back home to take a few days off and begin preparation for the playoffs next week.
