National Children’s Painting Contest in homage to Jose Martí opened

The 25th edition of the National Children’s Painting Contest ¨De Donde crece la palma¨, which pays tribute to our National Hero José Martí, was opened today at the Benito Granda Parada gallery in Jiguaní, Granma province.
The exhibition shows the works selected from 696 pieces from the whole Cuba that participated in this edition of the contest, which was created in 1995 to pay tribute from the children´s art creations to the Apostle of Cuban independence.

Because of the health situation that the country is going through, the award-winning children could not attend the ceremony in Jiguaní, as traditionally it happens every year.

At the park of this municipality – located about 22 kilometers from Dos Ríos, where Martí fell in combat on May 19, 1895 – the three prizes and five mentions in each categories of the contest were announced. (With information from the journalist Darelia Dáaz Borrero´s Facebook profile)
