The University of Granma is up to the current conditions of social isolation adopted in Cuba to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and guarantees the continuity of study, through alternatives to support distance learning.
Eduardo Pérez Fernández, vice-rector of the institution, specifies that students and teachers have found ways of to be in touch by means of social networks, telephone, emails, among other and virtual resources, to maintain the necessary feedback in this last stage of the school year.
In this sense, he highlights the leading role of students, teachers and groups of careers and subjects that ¨ have been able to guarantee the own management of learning independently in the current conditions, allowing us to continue betting on self-training¨.
He stressed that, to ensure the sustainability of this process, all the adjustments that have been carried out ensure the quality in the training of undergraduate professionals.
“We can affirm that this school year will successfully close under current conditions, because all measures have been taken to ensure this process,” he stressed.
The postgraduate vice chancellor of the University of Granma pointed out that the evaluation of the completion of study is guaranteed for the students who graduate this year and the proper guidelines for this process have been given.
“The technical and qualified force that our center delivers to society in each of the 38 careers and in the three study modalities will be guaranteed and the process of study completion will be carried out with the pertinent evaluations and exercises,” he assured.
He specified that, even in conditions of social isolation, these exercises are closed where students and their tutors or advisers have active participation; In this sense, communication is guaranteed by face-to-face communication and they are ready for the final test according to the schedule indicated by the National Defense Council and the MES.
The University of Granma assumes the training of more than 10,000 undergraduate students in 32 specialties grouped into six faculties and several study modalities, and has more than 1,300 teachers.
