The nurses Graciela Gutiérrez, Miladis Zamora, Marlenis Carrazana, Magda Batista, the nurse José Luis Tamayo and the dining room assistant Madelaine Olivera, made up the staff, who worked in the red zone of the isolation center for Covid 19 suspected cases, located in Villa Cautillo, of Bayamo.
We were called from the first moment, in my case I did not hesitate, I felt that I has a debt with this country, because I was well disposed to carry out internationalist mission, so I had to do the same here. Immediately I gave my approval to work in that isolation center, said Graciela.
This is a very united staff, I was the only man, we got along very well. There we worked in the ¨red zone¨, it was a rigorous task where we have to be very careful and became tense, so sometimes I used to relax by telling them jokes, told us José Luís.
Now, this team is under quarantine after being faced the global pandemic during fourteen days, when they lived moments of stress, concern and uncertainty, but at the same time, they met and learned to care each other.
We were trained to take all the biosafety measures, when facing the first positive case, undoubtedly, we were afraid because this is a highly contagious disease, so it was necessary to be very careful, in order to not make any mistake, Marlenis noted.
In the center where this team is now isolated, they receive the applause for front-line healthcare workers who are working hard to help those affected with the coronavirus.
Those applauses in gratitude from the Cuban people every night at 9:00 p.m. really move us, comfort us, Miladis said.
It is something wonderful, here we also see the neighbors when they go out to applaud night by night as gratitude for our work, it is something that touch our hearts, Magda added.
