More than 37 thousand children will be immunized against polio

The 59th National Anti-Poliomyelitis Vaccination Campaign began in the country, through which more than 460,000 children will be immunized in both stages, specialists from the Ministry of Public Health announced.

In the province of Granma there is also a free campaign, accessible to the whole population, in which more than 37 thousand infants will be immunized against Polio during the development of the first stage of vaccination, which will run until March 7.

Dr. Eduardo Escalona Rosabal, head of the vaccination program in the province, stressed that on the occasion the children will receive two doses of the vaccine from one month old to two years, eleven months and 29 days.

The doctor recalled that 30 minutes before and after the drops were given, no liquid or food should be taken, and warned that children with a fever greater than 38.5 degrees should not be vaccinated; diarrhea, vomiting and immuno deficiencies.
