Members of the 50 Contingent of the Venceremos Brigade, with representatives of some fourteen states of the United States, visit the province of Granma, said Marcelino Guerra Rosabal, delegate of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples in the province.

During their stay here the group will exchange with the people of Granma, and visit sites of historical interest.

Among the places to visit is La Demajagua National Monument, in Manzanillo, where the Cuban Independence Wars began 150 years ago, and Las Coloradas, in Niquero, where the expedtitionaries of the Granma Yacht landed.

Another part of the Contingent will reach La Plata, in the municipality of Bartolomé Masó, to visit the Rebel Army Command during the insurrectionary war.

The Venceremos Brigade arrived to Cuba on July 23, and will remain until August 13, during this period they celebrate the 15 anniversary of its creation.

The Venceremos was the first brigade of voluntary work and solidarity with the Island, to support the Cuban Revolution.

With a support to the Cuban revolution and end the blockade imposed by the United States on the Island, and against the application of Chapter III of the Helms Burton Act, the members of the Venceremos Brigade have manifested themselves, a position they had held for five decades.

After the tour of historic sites in Granma, members of the Venceremos Brigade will also visit the Santiago de Cuba, Guantánamo and Holguín provinces, to fulfill similar commitments of exchanges and knowledge of history. (Text and photo: Marisela Presa Sagué)
