The people of Granma pays tribute this Monday to the National Hero, José Martí, on the occasion of the 166th anniversary of his birth on January 28th, 1953.

Hundreds of people, mostly youngsters, took part in the traditional March of the Torches carried out in all the municipalities this Sunday, in the eve of the Marti´s birth anniversary.

That night walk was led by Federico Hernández Hernández, first secretary of the Cuba Communist Party in Granma, and Manuel Santiago Sobrino Martínez, president of the Provincial Assembly of the People´s Power.

This morning about 50 thousand children of the province participate in the Pioneer’s Parade held in streets and avenues, event in which hundreds of children personified various characters of the ¨Golden Age¨, the most famous works of the Maestro.

Special mornings, workshops, poetry reading, excursions, and other proposals are taking place today across the territory to remember the most universal of the Cubans.
