The self-employed workers of Granma receive information and updates on the new regulations that will come into effect on December 7, according to the rules published in the Official Gazette last July.

Ariel Fonseca Quesada, secretary of the Provincial Assembly of People´s  Power, stressed that the reorganizing of the self-employed is carried out by means of the implementation of several rules, decrees, and rules of complementary entities that support the new policy.

He explained that the 25 thousand self-employed workers of Granma has received the Gazette, and seminars are carrying out in charge of the multidisciplinary team to explain the details of the regulations.

It is an intense process of changes of self-employment work of the tax contribution, arising from the need to solve some existing deficiencies which can be solve with the new rules. Those measures were first published in the Gazette, and then through the seminars the workers are training, he added.

According to Yannia Colombié de la Cruz, provincial director of labor in Granma, the greatest difficulty that the territory has, is the low workers´ attendance to the seminars, mainly in the municipalities of Bayamo and Manzanillo, where only the 50 % of the registered self- employment workers have participated.

The specialist highlighted that from December 7 when the changes will be in effect, just one activity will be approved per person, and in case of irregularities the license could be suspended and imposed fines, so the important of the training.

On several occasions we have visited the workers with the purpose of investigating the cause of why they did not attend the seminar and in many cases they have stated that, as they have the Gazette, they training themselves and  do not think it is necessary to attend the meeting, she stated.

As of December with the new regulations, the licenses for 27 activities that were restricted in 2017 will be reopened, new licenses will be created and no activity will disappear under the new policy.

According to the regulation, the 98 activities will be grouped in 28 and finally there will be 123 categories of self-employment.

Among the novelties is that the new regulation establish a limit of one approved activity per person, but in some cases a single license as occurs with the beauty service, now 7 activities are grouped to allow a comprehensive service with the same tax burden.
