The Organ Music Festival Raquel Morales In Memoriam, begins today in the eastern province of Granma and will run until August 19, with the aim of preserving that tradition, declared Intangible Heritage of the Nation.
Competition of couple dancers and of musical instruments are part of the main activities of the event, according to Armando Pérez Mendoza, specialist of the municipal directorate of culture in Niquero.

Also, a course of the traditional dance of organ music, given by instructors from the House of Culture and the presentation of children´s project will taking place, he added.

The celebration, which is held every year in the municipality of Niquero, this 15 edition, is dedicated to the Rumba # 1 organ, of Pilón, for its paths and constant participation in the event, as well as the technical-artistic quality of the group.

Pérez Mendoza said that in the meeting, the only one of its type in the country, 13 organs of the province will participate, which will be distributed in the main streets of the town, and a guest group from the province of Sancti Spíritus will also be presented.

The Organ Festival Raquel Morales in memoriam will include in this edition the theoretical event El Organo y su recorrido en el tiempo (the organ and its journey through time), sponsored by the Municipal Museum of Niquero.

In June 1998, this event was born promoted by the Municipal Culture Directorate of Niquero for the recovery of the organics tradition, but was interrupted by the damages of Hurricane Dennis in 2005, and was restarted in August 2011, and since that year it has become one of the most important events in the eastern province.
