The Municipal Electoral Councils in Granma will take office on Friday September 27 before the provincial Electoral Commission, in ceremonies that will take place in each territories, confirmed Doris María Hernández Carbonell, secretary of that body.

Its presidents were elected in sessions of the Municipal Assemblies of the People´s Power, by free, direct and secret vote, as the Electoral Law establishes.

The Secretary of the provincial Electoral Council, Hernández Carbonell, said that the Presidents of municipal Electoral Councils in Granma, are the following.

In Río Cauto, Edilberto Lázaro Aguilera Fonseca; Santiago Ortiz Fernández was elected in Cauto Cristo; Juana del Rosario Garlobo Gálvez in Jiguaní and Migdalia Virgen Collejo Ortiz in Bayamo.

As president of the Municipal Electoral Council of Yara, César Mejías Romero was elected; in Manzanillo, José Antonio Núñez Fonseca; in Campechuela, Ana Iris Silva Cabrales, and in Media Luna, Eligio Piñeiro Fernández.

By the free, direct and secret vote of the municipal delegates of the People´s Power, José Luis González Chacón was also elected in Niquero; in Pilón, Julio César Atencio, and Mario Álvarez Ochoa in Bartolomé Masó.

The President of the Municipal Electoral Council of Buey Arriba is José Martí Hernández Rivera, and Arinelis Vidó Peña in Guisa.

The Electoral Councils are the highest electoral authorities in their district, structured with functional independence from any other body, and in the case of municipal Electoral Councils, they report to the provincial Electoral Council. (By: Marisela Presa Sagué / PHOTO: Archive)
