As a text of history, love for the Federation of University Students (FEU) and revolutionary feelings, the book Time of definitions: Voices of university struggles in Cuba, by the journalist Wilmer Rodríguez Fernández was presented in the city of Bayamo.

The presentation of the book took place at the headquarters of the Provincial Committee of the Young Communists League in Granma, on Thursday night.

During the presentation Dr. Nirza García Valdés, who was a leader of the FEU at national level, praised the quality and relevance of this text, which reach the university students when the process of the 9th  Congress of that federation, planned for next July in Havana, takes place.

She stressed that the book provides the opportunity to know part of the history of the oldest young organization in the voices of leaders and professors of different stages, as the author reflected the opinions and narrations of 17 interviewed with an acute and sincere look, including Alfredo Guevara, Juan Nuiry Sánchez, Ricardo Alarcón de Quesada, Armando Hart Dávalos and Néstor del Prado.

Time of definitions … is also a tribute to Fidel Castro, because his presence is noticed throughout the text, added García Valdés, who highlighted the constant and revolutionary contribution of the FEU, reserve of brave young people and leaders.

Wilmer Rodríguez, author of the book ¡Ahí viene Fidel, said that this Thursday was a day of emotions because of the great exchanges with young people in Bayamo and Manzanillo, a coastal city where he spent part of the day.

He said that he began writing about the history of the FEU when he was in the third year of the journalism degree, then he deepened the research in his undergraduate thesis until he conceived the volume, and eight years after it was published.

He highlighted the permanent link of Fidel with the FEU, who began his studies at the University of Havana on September 4, 1945, and after the revolutionary triumph, on January 1, 1959, he frequently visited the college.

Participants in the exchange, almost all delegates to the 9th  Congress of the FEU at the university level, praised the relevance of the text, which will be placed in libraries of the university of Granma.
