With the tribute to Carlos Manuel de Cespedes in the year of the bicentenary of his birth, the 25th edition of the Festival of Cuban Identity kicks off in Bayamo today.

After the ceremony of the Cuban flags at the Revolution Square in Bayamo, the historian of the city, the Master of Science Ludín Fonseca García recalled the contributions of the Father of the Motherland to the nation and the value of the Fiesta de la Cubanía.

The Festival of Cuban Identity turns into the cultural scene of the Bayamo city, during its celebration, there is no issue that disputes its hegemony and the Monument City is main reference on the media.

The theoretical event Crisol of the Cuban Nationality, main space of the meeting, on this occasion opened with a lecture by the Doctor of Science Rafael Acosta de Arriba.

In these 25 years the most representative of the Cuban culture in its different  facets has participated in the festival.

During the opening ceremony, the of Carlos Manuel de Cespedes´s baptism faith, patrimonial object that presides over the event, was placed in the Birthplace Museum.

Until next October 20th, the city of Bayamo as the main venue and other municipalities in the territory will host several cultural proposals of all artistic creations.
