Mailén Díaz Almaguer, the only survivor of the plane crash in Cuba in May that cost the lives of more than a hundred people, sent his first message of thanks to those who continued his recovery.
In the text, which immediately generated numerous comments, the girl also gave ‘many thanks to God for giving me a second chance to live and to be better every day’.
Internet surfers agreed that they were aware of its evolution in recent months and recognized the role played by ‘the medical staff and Cuban health workers who save lives not only with drugs but with love and total dedication,’ said one of the participants in the forum.
A part disseminated in local media in October explained that the young woman is assisted in a comprehensive manner by a multidisciplinary group of the Hermanos Ameijeiras Hospital, in Havana, with the participation of specialists from other institutions.
According to the report, Mailen continued the progress and took, among other procedures, the neurological rehabilitation measures and the respiratory mechanics and the healing process of soft tissue injuries.
From the 1 of August, Díaz Almaguer receives treatment and rehabilitation in the Ameijeiras. Previously it was attended in the also capital university hospital General Calixto García.
On Friday, May 18, a Boeing 737-200 from the Mexican company Damojh, rented by Cubana de Aviación, bound for Holguín, rushed to the ground moments after its takeoff from the José Martí International Airport in Havana.
Because of the tragedy – considered the worst in the history of civil aeronautics on the island – 112 people died, including the crew.
