The machinery and equipment of the Granma´s sugar mills are under restoration, process at 85 % of execution at this time, in order to start the 2018-2019 harvest next November.  

Leticia Marrero Fernandez, head of sugar harvest in the Sugar Company (AZCUBA) in the province, explained that they did not carry out big-scale actions this year.

In the territory the harvest 2017-2018 was affected by the intense rains, and some a few days were effective in last campaign, so fewer breakages were registered both in agricultural and industrial, she explained.

Also taking into account this fact and the availability of some resources we determined to end the repair on October 30, she noted.

The head of sugar harvest highlighted that, in the Arquímides Colina plat of Bayamo, the repair was focused on the maintenance of a water tank and the replacement of gas duct.

In the Enidio Díaz, of Campechuela, also worked on the recovery of a water tank, as well as replacing some bearings in a reducer of the mills, she informed.

For its part in the Roberto Ramírez mill, of Niquero, the actions were focused on the boiler area and in the repair of the honey tank, she added.

She specified that Bartolomé Masó, from the municipality of the same name, the components of the electronic centrifugal were replaced; while, in Grito de Yara, important work is carried out in the turbogenerators.

The specialist added that the sugar workers of Granma are aware of making progress in repairs in order to carry out with quality the preparatory tests that ensure the start in time of the upcoming campaign planned for the second half of November.
