We are precisely where the Cuban nation was born, and that is one of the greatest gifts that have given to me, said the outstanding musician Wilfredo (Pachy) Naranjo, who was honored at La Demajagua historical site, on the occasion of his 70 birthday.

At the reception held at the protocol hall of the emblematic National Monument, the director of the popular Orchestra Original de Manzanillo lived on Monday many emotions, including the unexpected presence of the renowned pianist and composer Frank Fernandez, whom he considers his brother.

Accompanied by relatives, Naranjo thanked the highest political and governmental authorities of the province of Granma for the detail, which he described as a significant moment in his life.

The National Music Award 2011, highlighted the career of the Super Charanga of Cuba for more than 55 years, a group that has honored the pentagram and the traditions of the country, always from this eastern territory.

Federico Hernández, First Secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba in Granma, expressed that it is a source of pride to have an artist like Pachy Naranjo, whose work has raised not only the name of the territory but also Cuban culture.

As it is say, talent turns men into famous, but humility and simplicity make you a giant, a great man, added Hernandez, highlighting the human values ​​of the leader of the Original.

The well-deserved tribute was also attended by representatives of several sectors and organizations of the province and the municipality of Manzanillo, including Culture, Heritage, Association of Combatants of the Cuban Revolution, Federation of Cuban Women and Union Communists League.
