A wax sculpture of the outstanding Cuban poet Carilda Oliver Labra will be part of the collection of the Wax Museum of this city, the only one of its kind in the country.

Ismary López Comas, director of the institution, told that the sculpture of the so-called ¨Girlfriend from Matanzas¨ will be a gift for the 15th  anniversary of the singular art gallery, to be held next July.

She told the ACN that Raidel Hernández Fernández, Carilda´s widower, gave his consent for the preparation of the figure, and now they are waiting for the official authorization letter to start the creative process.

The sculpture, she said, will be in charge of the Barrios Madrigal family, from the municipality of Guisa, authors of most of the collection of the museum.

We expect that the opportunity to appreciate another figure at life-size and that evokes Carilda will create a greater attraction for the public during the summer season, a period in which we receive a large number of people, added López Comas.

Founded on July 14, 2004, the Wax Museum exhibits about twenty sculptures of Cuban and foreign personalities, highlighted in dissimilar spheres of human development, as well as a great variety of animal species, exponents of the biodiversity of the natural parks from the southeastern territory of Granma.
