Pope Francis expressed today in a video message sent to the people of Havana his pleasure to join the celebrations for the 500th anniversary of the founding of the village of San Cristobal of Havana.
He commented that in 500 years of history there are many interwoven lives given by others, many dreams, efforts, shared sacrifices to build the present and future of the sons and daughters of Cuba.
It doesn’t matter if one thinks in one way or another; that there is love, harmony; and thus the unity of the Cuban people is founded, said the Supreme Pontiff of the Catholic Church.
There will always be difficulties in life; the nations will have difficulties, but this unity of a people, joined in charity, in the hope of walking forward, helps the people to grow strong, he added.
Jesus blesses you; blesses all the Cuban people, whom I remember with affection when I visited you: what a great people; and the Virgin, Our Caridad del Cobre, takes care of you.
“And please don’t forget to pray for me, thank you very much,” Francis concluded.(ACN)
