With several results in the protection of its natural ecosystems, Granma comes to this International Day for Biological Diversity.
The province has 10 protected areas and implements training actions in communities that make use of natural resources, through a biological diversity program.
The management of natural resources is one of the challenges that the territory is facing to mitigate the loss of species and environmental degradation, a phenomenon that also affect the province.
Because of this, work is carrying out to reverse the destruction of the natural habitat of the species, the illegal fishing and hunting of animals of high economic value and the insufficient control over compliance with environmental legislation.
The province intensifies actions for the implementation of the National Strategy for Biological Diversity and of the measures plan for the preservation of species in the protected areas, in addition to the monitoring of threatened and endangered species.
