In the year of the 60th anniversary of the founding of Radio Rebelde, the voice of the Cuba Revolución, the Cuban Institute of Radio and Television (ICRT) confers the National Radio Award 2018 to five outstanding producers in the country, in acknowledgment of their work meanly in municipal stations of this media.

The recipients of this recognition this year are Magaly Bernal Hernández, actress and announcer from Radio 26, of Matanzas; Tomás Ernesto Martínez Robles, announcer, writer and program director from Radio Granma, in the municipallty of Manzanillo, Granma; Elina Pelegrí Trujillo, announcer from Radio Guamá, of Pinar del Río; Roberto Pacheco Martínez, narrator and sports commentator from Radio Rebelde; and Juan Manuel Piñera Infante, script consultant, writer and program director from CMBF Radio Musical Nacional.

The announcer, program director and writer, Tomás Ernesto Martínez Robles has worked  for 39 years at Radio Granma, in the municipality of Manzanillo. He served on internationalist mission in the decade of the 80s at Radio Tatek, Ethiopia, and represented the Cuban Radio in international events of regional communication.

Martínez Robles has received numerous awards and recognitions as the founder of the UNEAC in Manzanillo, the Cuba-Ethiopia friendship medal, the Internationalist Combatant Medal and the Award for Artistic Excellence as an Announcer and Instructor. He collaborated with the National Radio of Venezuela and holds the Microphone of the Cuban Radio and the Maestro de Radialistas condition.

The award ceremony will take place at the “José Martí” Memorial, in Havana, on August 22,  on the occasion of the 96th anniversary of the first continuous radio broadcasts in Cuba, a means of communication that becomes  cultural heritage of the nation.
