Activities dedicated to two important events of the History of Cuba, which took place in this city in the 19th century, stand out today in the program of the local version of the 28th edition of the International Book Fair in the eastern province of Granma.

Opening the day, the House of Cuban Nationality hosted the panel Impronta del Fuego 150 años después, where several scholars talked about the glorious burning of Bayamo by its residents, on January 12th, 1869.

Another interesting proposal was the presentation of the text La Bayamesa, 165 años de su canto, a collection on the history of which is considered as the first piece of the romantic songbook of the Island.

While, in the afternoon, graduates of the Onelio Jorge Cardoso Literary Training Center will host a homage to the work of Eduardo Heras León, a prominent Cuban intellectual to whom the Fair is dedicated this year.

There will also be a meeting to delve into the historical and cultural links between Cuba and the Democratic and Popular Republic of Algeria, the guest of honor of the event.

Coinciding with the International Women’s Day, the second day of the festival of letters in Granma will include a special gift for the women, to whom singer-songwriter Raúl Paz will offer a concert at 9:00 p.m. at the emblematic Plaza de the Revolution, of Bayamo.

Until next Sunday, the Book Fair in Granma will be available to the readers nearly 84 thousand 700 copies, including more than 200 novelties.
