The analysis of the current Cuban context and the evaluation of the projections for 2019 were important topics of the last day of debates of the Meeting of the National Network of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Center.

At the El Salto camping located in the municipality of Manzanillo, the members of the Popular Educators and the Ecumenical Faith Networks for Cuba analyzed the Cuban social and political situation and Latin American integration strategies.

During the debates, the participants identified as essential elements the commitment and unity in the undertaking of common projects and efforts upon the charging of religious fundamentalism, a trend that has taken many communities in our country.

Social leaders from different parts of the world commented on their experiences and challenges in the Latin American political scene, where the right-wing policy has triumphed in its governmental position.

Representatives of the Brazil´s landless movement and the ALBA movement Regional Organization shared anecdotes and talked about the current challenges imposed by the media and the governments of Jair Bolsonaro and Mauricio Macri.

In addition, a tribute was paid to the Argentine social leader Dario Santillan, on the 38th anniversary of his birth, who was killed by police repression during a protest against neoliberal policies.

Under the slogan Somos pueblo en Movimiento the meeting of networks of the Martin Luther King Center is taking place and will culminate this January 19, in Dos Rios, one of the historic sites, where the mystic offers a special meaning for those who support freedom and to make a more fairer country for all.
