The installation of a new line in the Manuel Hernández marble industry,  in the locality of Cautillo of the municipality of Jiguaní, will increase the production from next month, explained José Miguel Rodríguez Gómez, head of the plant.

In the unit, a second automated and continuous cycle will start operation, able to transform large blocks of marble into polished sheets, countertops, and slabs for floors, walls and stairs, he said.

Rodriguez Gomez said that the new equipment will divide the blocks into 49 sheets of two and three centimeters thick, measure the thickness, apply resins, dry with ultraviolet rays, polish and cut.

The modernization of the Manuel Hernández marble industry, the only one in the country that processes the most sought after Crema del Valle variety, will provide, according to the director, 20 new jobs for which several workers are in the training process.

The installation of the new line is planned for the end of July and its operation will double production and we will better fulfill the customer requirements, said Rodríguez Gómez.

In the factory, the main products are rustic and polished slabs, with a size of 40 by 40 centimeters, although the size can vary according to the requests of buyers.

The variety of Crema del Valle marble must undergo a process of resin and mesh to strengthen the material, one of the most homogeneous in color terms.

Among the main clients of this entity are the Almest real estate agency, specialized in hotels, the Ministry of Public Health, the Construction Company, the Non-Agricultural Production Cooperatives and the Cuban Association of Artisans and Artists.

The Marmoles Oriente Business Basic Unit consist of a quarry from which the raw material is extracted, a factory, and a workshop for the elaboration of crafts and special pieces.
