The traditional Cuban music group Kanoy received this weekend at the October 20th House of Culture, in Bayamo, a homage to its 25 years of founded.

Directed by Noida González Tamayo, this professional group works permanently to rescue the most autochthonous of our stave and has its own style and unmistakable sound.

Other artists such as Enhorabuena group, saxophonist José Méndez, Yolaine González from Mariachi Tierra Brava, as well as tresero (guitarrist) José Fonseca Pérez, director of Bororó y su Re Mayor group and pianist Aymé Granado González, attended the homage.

During the space the group received the tribute by the Sindo Garay  Music and Shows Trading Company , the Convergencia Cultural Center, the Paradiso Agency, the Municipal Direction of Culture of Bayamo and the Enhorabuena group.

“In this 25 years we have been able to increase the information and interpretive levels, the technician, I think that Kanoy for everyone who has been part of it, the group has been a school not only in the technical but also in the professional order”, highlighted González Tamayo.

During these two decades Kanoy has performed for locals and international tourisms, carried out artistic tours, concerts and has participated in events, in radio programs, carnivals and different artistic shows.

Also, the group has received recognitions for its contribution to traditional Cuban music, actions that allow it to belong to the excellence catalog of the Music Company in our territory since 2002.

At each stage they show generic richness, ability to attract all audiences, and their own style since their first performance on April 12, 1993.

About the group, the maestro Carlos Puig Premión once said: Due to its repertoire, Kanoy is the thermometer of the traditional Cuban music in Granma.
