The journalists specializing in educational issues were honored this Monday at the Provincial Directorate of Education on the occasion of the Cuban Press Day, that will be celebrated on March 14th .

Officials and directors of education in Granma held this meeting with journalists, where the presence of the press in each event of the educational work was highlighted and reflect the work of the teachers and the advances of the sector in its essential indicators that place Granma among the most outstanding of the country in the field.

Teresa Perez Trinchet, provincial director of education offered the reporters there an overview of the main priorities for this school year.

Among the most pressing actions the preparation of educational centers for the application of the Regional Explanatory Comparative Study (ERCE), the intensive training to the 12th grade students, who will take the entrance exams to higher education and the participation of the sector in the process of computerization of Cuban society.

The directive highlighted that the work of the educational sector is show on the media with a critical and objective look, always highlighting the achievements and challenges of one of the main programs of the Cuban revolution.

This meeting of the staff of journalists specializing in education issues with executives of the sector, is part of the tribute to the press and is inserted in the activities scheduled in the province where professionals from different media are involved.

The Press Day in Granma is dedicated to the 60th  anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution at 165 of the birth of the patriot and journalist Juna Gualberto Gómez and to the 127th  anniversary of the first issue of the Patria newspaper.
