With the lecture entitled la Interculturalidad en la universidad y los estudios culturales en América Latina, the 12th International Conference of Peoples and their Cultures was officially opened in Granma.

The Plaza de la Patria Monument hosted the Keynote Speech, given by the Master in Sciences Hernán Patricio Bastidas Pacheco, Vice-rector of the Technical University of Cotopaxi, of Ecuador and Doctor Máximo Gómez Castells.

During the presentation Bastidas Pacheco highlighted how this college contributes and works culture in its different ways and stressed one of its most important achievements is to have the Mashca Danza Folkloric Ballet.

He also highlighted that artistic group carries out research processes and afterward staged choreographies, in this way they represent the province in festivals and become spokesperson for the Ecuadorian culture.

The vice-rector of the Technical University of Cotopaxi also said that the institution that he represents works with the culture under the slogan “For the link between the university and the people, because their research and all the work they do benefit the community.

On the other hand, the speech by Gómez Castells was focused on the keys of interculturality in Latin America and the way in which cultural thought has moved in the region.

Also, the work in commissions takes place at the International Conference of Peoples and Cultures, where participants debate seventy papers divided into four workshops.

Also, as part of the activities of the conference this March 18, at the Manuel Muñoz Cedeño Provincial Museum Dr. Máximo Gómez Castells presented the book Eficacia Simbolica en Museos, of his authorship.
