Seven new coffee pulping machines are at the disposal for the production in the municipality of Guisa, after the official handover on Tuesday of that machinery as part of the Mas café (more coffee) project funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation.

The engineer Daniel Pérez Espinosa, industrial assembly specialist of the Coffee and Cocoa Base Unit of the Agroforestry Enterprise of that municipality, explained that among them there are three with the capacity to process 2,500 kilograms per hour and the rest with one thousand.

María Rosa Stevan, head of the Cuba´s office of the Italian agency for cooperation said that the purpose is to continue promoting the coffee production in the mountainous municipality and added that the new equipment includes a shelling machine that will be installed in the plant.

For his part, Furio Massolino, consultant for agroforestry systems for coffee, cocoa and the environment, stressed that there is a large germplasm bank created in collaboration with the agroforestry station.

He also explained that Guisa has one of the largest coffee breeding he has ever seen, as well as the construction of a classroom for training and other benefits received as part of the productive chain promoted by the Cuban government.

Today a visit to the agroforestry experimental station is scheduled, as well as to productive units in the mountainous localities of Guamá and El Caidizo. (By: Rafael Traba Bordón / PHOTO: Internet)
