As it is traditional for 16 years, the itinerant sociocultural community project ¨Guerrilla de Teatreros¨ will pay tribute to the Father of the Cuban Homeland, through the Cantar por la ruta del Padre initiative, which reissues the patriot’s journey after the independence uprising of 1868.
René Reyes Blázquez, director of the renowned artistic group of the province of Granma, told that a cultural activity will take place next Wednesday on the municipality of Manzanillo, at the monument located at La Demajagua former sugar mill, where Carlos Manuel de Céspedes started the first libertarian deed of the Island.
On October 10th, on the occasion of the 151 anniversary of that glorious event, the tour will start which will include presentations in communities such as: San Francisco, Palmas Altas, Yara, Cabagán and Calambrosio.
Until Wednesday 16, they will arrive to other places where Céspedes and his men camped after the armed uprising, including El Zarzal, La Sierrita de Nagua, Canabacoa, Barranca and Santa Isabel, he said.
During the tour the different audiences will be able to enjoy plays such as the comedy Los caprichos de Mongo Nicotina and the parody La casa de Bernarda Calva; as well as the performances of clowns, singers and the musical group Sabor a Cuba, belonging to the Guerrilla itself.
Specially motivated by the celebration this 2019 of the bicentenary of the Bayames patriot, each performance will begin with singing of the romantic song La Bayamesa, accompanied by allegorical poems to the rebellious journey of Céspedes, Reyes Blázquez said.
On the morning of the October 17th, the members of the group, on horseback and dressed as Mambises, will arrive in Bayamo, the first free city during the war of 1868, and at the Plaza de la Revolucion they will stage the entrance of the Father of the Motherland and other patriots to the city, an exhibition conceived as a prelude to the XXV Fiesta de la Cubanía.
Founded in 1992, la Guerrilla de Teatreros annually carries out several initiatives related to the history of Cuba, such as the Ruta Martiana, and its members are culture ambassadors in isolated places of the Sierra Maestra and other localities places of Granma.
