Under the Martí´s thought of “children are those who know how to love: they are the hope of the world”, the province of Granma celebrates the International Children’s Day, this June 1, with several recreational, sports and cultural proposals.

Joy reigns today in each of schools of the primary, secondary and special educations, where the day began with special morning on the celebration, and other initiatives.

Under the motto “For a happy childhood”, the children express in drawings what this day means to them.

The celebration includes the festival “Paint on the asphalt”, organized by the Houses of Culture of the territory.

The central activity takes place in the Bayamo city, with gastronomic fairs and artistic shows at the Casa de Fiestas.

Also, children’s projects are presented in homes for children without family protection, pediatric hospitals and kindergarten.

In each municipality of the province, like in the rest of the country, children enjoy traditional games and recreational proposals at the parks and squares.

In 1954, the UN General Assembly recommended that all countries institute a day dedicated to worldwide fraternity and understanding among all the children and to seek their welfare, and like many other nations, Cuba chose the June 1st.

This day serves to think about the sensitivity of this matter that concerns all of us, and, at the same time, to recognize the people who build a better future to children.
