The Integral Provincial Company of Food Industry in Granma, in response to the call of the Cuban government to a rational use of energy, an action plan is implemented in all its units, which has generated savings of five thousand liters of diesel.
The measures are aimed at boosting the productions that need less fuel in their process, and looking for alternative solutions to guarantee the productions of high demand assortments in the population.
Laemsy Espinosa Hidalgo, deputy of the Integral Provincial Company of Food Industry in Granma, said that, given the current energetic situation they planned daily production of bread in units that do not consume diesel, which use wood stoves.
Espinoza Hidalgo said that, of the five biscuit factories of the province, only the Manzanillo one works because it is more efficient in the use of electricity, and has the capacity to provide the main markets of Granma.
She stressed that they guarantee levels of candies such as cookies, sorbets, palitroques and waffles, to ensure children’s activities on weekends.
