The guaracheros de San Juan comparsa won the first place of the Bayamo´s carnival parade after several days of competition, in which our essences were exposed with great color and beauty.

Directed by Roberto Boris Sánchez, the group competed with the theme 500 + 5 of my Bayamo, cradle of history, traditions and Cuban culture, with choreography by Eduardo Rodríguez Rodríguez.

Also, this comparsa was awarded in the individualities of the best banner, scenography and choreography.

While, La Jardinera and Parranderos del Cristo comparsas received the second and third place, respectively.

At the closing ceremony of the Bayamo 2018 carnival, the first place was for La Estudiantil float, the second was for the San Juan El Cristo and the third for the Cubana Soy float, from the Camilo Cienfuegos district.

The first place was to the conga of Siboney, while the San Juan garnered the second prize and the conga of Camilo Cienfuegos the third place.

On this occasion, the organizers of the celebration recognized personalities who contributed to the traditions and development of these festivities over the years.

Among these distinguished were, Saturno Bruqueta Rosabal, president of the first organizing committee of the Bayamo Carnival; Equisio Brizuela García, director of the first children’s comparsa; Mariela Teresa Castañeda Rodríguez, with outstanding results as one of the first directors of comparsas and floats in the city.

Also posthumous tribute was paid to Carlos Ayala Cisneros, with the stage name of Tragabala; Pastor Moliné Saborit, creator of the Tomatico clown and Miguel López García, who trains directors, designers and producers in the world of entertainment.
