The first three births of animals through embryo transfer technology in the last 30 years occurred at the Manuel Fajardo genetics and breeding enterprise, in the municipality of Jiguaní.

The veterinary doctor Edgado Banítez told the press that during all these years it was not possible to import the necessary supplies for the application of this technology, so during that period its application was not possible in the company.

He also stated that embryo transfer technology has the merit of preserving the genetic characteristics of the mother, becoming greater than artificial insemination.

The first births are from the three embryos of a single mother, implanted in some recipients previously synchronized in their reproductive process and all the calves, which were born in last September, are healthy.

The doctor of sciences Adael Bernal del Sol, specialist in reproductive biotechnology of the research center for animal breeding of tropical livestock of the Ministry of Agriculture said, that the company of Jiguaní have good results from the work they do.

He also assured that this technology is only applied in genetic enterprise because of their role as icons in the scientific activity of livestock in the country.

Bernal del Sol added that in the country, in addition to the Jiguaní embryo transfer station, similar ones are implemented in the provinces of Camaguey, Mayabeque and Artemisa.
