With two activities to pay tribute to the young Italian Fabio Di Celmo, on the 22nd anniversary of the attack where he died, the Tenemos Memoria event, began today in the eastern province of Granma, to denounce the blockade and terrorism against Cuba.
The Genoese tourist, who died at 32 years old, a victim of sabotage perpetrated in 1997 at the Copacabana Hotel, in the Havana city, was recalled at the Wax Museum of Bayamo, the only of its type in the country, where a life-size sculpture represents his image since 2005.
After the official opening of the figure, the collective of the gallery maintained good relationship with Fabio’s father, Giustino Di Celmo, and every September condemns the tragic consequences of the vile attack.
In this occasion, young people who are in the military service in the Fire Command of Bayamo participated, according to Ysmary López Comas, director of the Wax Museum.
The other tribute to Fabio took place at the provincial delegation of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) in Granma, and was attended by combatants, representatives of political and mass organizations, intellectuals, historians, professors and students of the Rubén Bravo Álvarez Pedagogical School.
Marcelino Guerra Rosabal, ICAP delegate in the territory, said that the day Tenemos Memoria will last until the coming month of November, and will include a commemorative event for the 43rd anniversary of the crime perpetrated against a Cuban civil aircraft in Barbados, on October 6ths, 1976.
In the wide program of the institution, solidarity actions with the people of Puerto Rico, a tribute to the American Lucius Walker nine years after his death, and several exchange spaces with foreign students studying at the universities of Granma are inserted, she added.
