For six months the Doctor Yuniel Veloz Pantoja from Manzanillo, a specialist of Integral General Medicine, provided his services in the municipality of Guaraciaba do Norte, located in the State of Ceará in the Northeast region of Brazil.

From June 6, 2018, he became a member of the More Doctors program and there in the community where he worked, his main objective was to provide health services to the most needy people of the South American giant.

“I had already fulfilled mission in Venezuela from 2013 to 2015, but when I arrived here many things were different.

The reception was wonderful, they welcomed us with a lot of love, very happy because they are convinced that most of the professionals that worked in this municipality were Cuban and also to our professionalism, in each consultation we express affection and concern for the quick recovery of our patients”.

When Yuniel Veloz knew of the decision by the Ministry of Public Health of Cuba to end of the More Doctors program due to the disrespectful measures announced by President-elect of Brazil Jair Bolsonaro, he always support it because dignity is not negotiated.

“When we received the news on Wednesday, November 14, of the withdrawal of Cuba from the Program, we feel sad for leaving so many needy people of medical care, living in extreme poor neighborhoods and we really know that this population will need a lot of our services from now on, but we cannot allow that the professionalism of Cuban doctors to be questioned”.

Veloz Pantoja will return soon to the homeland with the commitment to continue offering his medical services wherever the Revolution needs him.

“Once in Cuba I will continue working in our health system and I will continue taking care of my patients in the municipality of Río Cauto because for that reason the Cuban Revolution trained me, to work wherever it need us. I return with all the love and the conviction that we are going with the moral very high and with the feeling that the world is proud of the Cuban doctors”.

The Cuban collaborators fulfilled mission with dignity in Brazil, they will be welcomed here as heroes, with gratitude and admiration, with the same feelings with which the Brazilian people says good-bye to them today.
