With the gala entitled !Al combate corred… otra vez! held on Sunday at the Revolution Square of Bayamo, the people of this city celebrated the Cuban Culture Day.

From the historic Plaza, in the capital of Granma, artists and guest personalities to the Fiesta de la Cubanía, was celebrated the date in which the Cuba’s National Anthem was sung for the first time on October 20th, 1868.

The cultural political event included the performances of the Bayamo Professional Choir, the singers Magda Beatriz Rivera, Ary Rodríguez, the Ismaelillo Choir, the Bienandanza company and students of the Manuel Muñoz Cedeño, Professional Art School.

The Rumbatá company, the singer José Alberto Tamayo, the Cuban repentista Emiliano Sardiñas, the Punto Libre Septet, the Rodrígo Prats lyric theater of Holguín paid tribute to Cuban history and culture.

In the main speech Lorianne Rodríguez Batista, Provincial Director of Culture in Granma, stressed that the date is the perfect occasion to celebrate who we are from the root, what distinguishes us as Cubans.

The act for the Day of Culture, was the tribute of Cuban artists to the sacred date of October 20th, 1868, the day when the nation began to be forged by first singing the Hymn of Bayamo´s notes, which became the National Anthem. (By: Liuba Mustelier Ramirez)
