Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel urged in this city to work in accordance with the present times, and to find solutions.

‘We will all feel we are better citizens, leaders and civil servants,’ if we work this way, the president said.

He stressed that these are paramount attitudes to face the current energy situation the nation is experiencing, caused by the hostile US policy towards the island, during a work visit to Holguin province to evaluate all measures taken to minimize the impact of the fuel shortage.

Díaz-Canel acknowledged that Holguin – one of the most populous cities in Cuba, with over one million inhabitants – is prepared to withstand any situation, come into its own and emerge stronger.

During the meeting with national and local authorities, the head of state encouraged efforts in agriculture, housing construction, as well as in the campaign to erradicate mosquito breeding sites.

Together with the First Vice President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Salvador Valdés Mesa, the Cuban president learned about the adjustments made to working hours in several centers, with a view to reducing energy consumption during peak hours, as well as the continuous efforts to achieve physical progress in agriculture, tourism and housing.(Taken from PL)
