Cuban boxer Andy Cruz defeated American Keyshawn Davis 5-0 today and won the title of the 63-kilogram division at the World Boxing Championship.

Cruz crowned a brilliant tour of the competition in which he surpassed all his rivals with ease, exhibiting colorful boxing, with remarkable movements of torso and variety in his combinations.

The current champion at the Pan American Games in Lima this year, Cruz defeated Belgian Ibrahima Diallo at the top of the podium first and then the Kazakh Zakir Safiullin.

During his third presentation he beat local Ilya Popov and, to reach the final, defeated Indian Manish Kaushik, in the end bronze medalist with Armenian Hovhannes Bachkov, in all cases by unanimous decision.

Cuba thus ends its performance at the World Boxing Championship number 20 with the balance of a gold medal, one silver in the 57 kilograms through Lázaro Álvarez and another bronze for Julio César la Cruz in the 81 kg.(PL)
