With joy and pride thousands of children from Granma and from all over Cuba received the blue scarf today, attribute that identify them as members of the José Martí Pioneer Organization (OPJM), in homage to the 52nd anniversary of the fall in combat of Ernesto ¨Che¨ Guevara , the Heroic Guerrilla.
From the hands of parents, relatives and teachers, the OPJM new members received the important attribute in solemn acts of pioneer initiation, which takes place in all primary schools of the Island.
On this occasion, in the southeastern province of Granma, nine thousand first-grade students of elementary education entered in the José Martí Pioneer Organization, in the Moncadista stage.
The provincial act took place at the Roberto ¨Coco¨ Peredo Leige school, in the city of Bayamo this morning.
Blue as the sky of the homeland and in the shape of an isosceles triangle, all its vertices have a meaning: study, work and fight for the conquests of the Cuban Revolution.
In the traditional ceremony that is held every October 8th, first grade students, also enter in the Pioneers Explorer Movement and those from fourth to ninth will make their first camp.
Placed on the shoulders, the scarf must be worn for all pioneering and school activities; it will be worn with the school uniform and with the appropriate clothing for exploration and camping.
Once they received the scarf at the initiation ceremony, the children express the slogan: Pioneers for communism, we will be like Che! as a tribute to the Heroic Guerrilla on the 52nd anniversary of his death, with this activity the Camilo-Che ideological day begins, which will run until October 28th.
