Granma promotes the implementation of solar parks to increase its share of renewable energy sources, based on the provision of facilities that allow the use of solar energy.

Reynaldo Puentes Antúnez, specialist of the Electric Company in Granma, says that six photovoltaic solar stations are installed and other facilities are planned to be build.

The engineer told to Radio Bayamo, that this provides “the possibility of reducing the emission of pollutant gases into the atmosphere while avoiding energy wastage.”

The exploitation of photovoltaic panels in Granma and the idea of increasing them, confirms the strategy of the country to boost renewable energy sources with the aim of transforming the energy matrix and reducing dependence on fossil fuels.

In recent statements Liván Arronte Cruz, vice minister of Energy and Mines, meant the importance of photovoltaic generation as an efficient alternative in energy production, which at the same time contributes to the environmental vision of environmental protection.

In this regard, he said that by 2030 a quarter of the national electricity in Cuba must come from renewable energy. (By: Milena Céspedes Milan / PHOTO: Archive/ Translated by Radio Bayamo)
