The museum it is a necessary point of reference for all interested in knowing about the history of Cuba. This institution is one of the main cultural centers and center of high patrimonial value of the Bayamo city.

Miguel Antonio Muñoz López, specialist and researcher of the institution, highlighted that this is the only two-stories building that remains in Bayamo surviving to the historic set on fire of 1869, one of the most dramatic events of the beginning of the 10 years War.
Besides the personality of Cespedes there are others related to this house, which had an important involvement in the conspiratorial process prior to the outbreak of 1868, that we will be commemorating the 150th anniversary soon, he said.
Muñoz López explained that in this house besides Carlos Manuel, two other of his brothers were born in this case: Francisco Javier and Pedro María de Céspedes y del Castillo, who both also participated in the uprising of La Demajagua on October 10th , 1868 and in the 10 years War, reaching high military positions in the Liberation Army.
Therefore, we are talking about a house where a family of patriots was born, founders of the nation and initiators of the independence revolution in Cuba, and not just a building that stands out for its excellent state of conservation and heritage value, he noted.
