The city of Bayamo will host from February 25 to 27, a new edition of  La Mi Si Fa event, with the aim of fostering the creation and development of concert music for small-ensemble format.

Sponsored by the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, the Sindo Garay Provincial Music and Show Marketing Company and the Culture Sector in Granma, the event will be dedicated to the Bicentennial of Carlos Manuel de Céspedes and the centenary of Benny More´s birth.

Luis Millet Yaque, president of the UNEAC music branch in the territory, told that the event will also dedicate spaces to artistic teaching with master classes and the participation of students in the presentations.

The program of La Mi Si Fa will start on Monday at 8:30 in the evening at the Manuel Muñoz Cedeño Provincial Museum, the stage of the concerts during the three days.

The opening of the event will have the performance of the Contraste and Entre Cuerdas quintets, guitar player Miriam Pompa, the Transparencia duo, as well as students from the art school.

The festival program also include the performance of the pianist Gerardo Mesa, the guitarist Dunia Ortiz, Metals in Concert, the String Quartet of Santiago de Cuba, as well as the Presto Duo and the Maderas al Viento trio, from Las Tunas province.

The Saxophone Quartet, the Klavier Duo, the Lira Bayamesa Guitar Orchestra, the Exulten Early Music Ensemble and the San Salvador of Bayamo Chamber Orchestra will also perform.

The event La Mi Si Fa will also include a theoretical meeting entitled La Programación en Musica de Concierto which will be held at the Hermanos Cabrera Center of Information and Documentation of Music.

La Mi Si Fa is an event created with the aim of enhancing the historical tradition and cultural life of the province, encouraging the development of concert music, exchange with artistic teaching and groups of other territories.
