The National Meeting Somos pueblo en movimiento which brings together the networks of the Martin Luther King Memorial Center (CMMLK), will take place in the Granma province from today to January 19, to analyze the current national context and the main challenges to deepen on the principles of socialism in Cuba.

Among other objectives, the meeting is aiming of advancing in the developing of work strategies for 2019 and 2020, as well as to increase the integration of the networks, as Joel Suárez, executive coordinator of the center told.

Suarez stressed that the CMMLK and the Networks will express the support of their memberships to the new Constitution that will go to a popular referendum on February 24, as an expression of their political commitment and active participation in the continuity and perfecting the Cuban socialist project.

The meeting will bring together more than 150 members of the Popular Educators and the Ecumenical Faith Network for Cuba, and it is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the beginning of the struggle for independence of the island, the triumph of the Cuban Revolution, and the 90’s anniversary of the birth of the Baptist minister and civil rights activist Martin Luther King, Jr.

The Martin Luther King Center is an organization of Christian inspiration founded on April 25, 1987, which manages and accompanies experiences of community work, power and popular economy, higher education and ecumenism.

With the tribute to Cuba and its history, the meeting was opening in front of the Birthplace Museum of Carlos Manuel de Céspedes this morning.
